Cervical Smears

The doctors recommend that all women between the ages of 25 and 65 have a cervical smear at regular intervals in order to prevent cancer of the neck of the womb. Currently it is recommended to have a smear every three years (ladies aged 25-45 years of age) or five years (ladies 46 – 65 years of age). Somerset PCT operates an automatic recall system for women whose smears are due. If you are aged between 25 and 64 and have never had a cervical smear, please make an appointment with the practice nurse in the cervical smear clinic.
